I love racing, speaking, traveling, meeting people and my home state of Kansas!!! THANK YOU to the Hays, Kansas WOMEN WHO LEAD for having me as #keynote #speaker for your POWER OF THE PURSE fundraising event. Your energy was fire and it was a lovely evening followed by brunch with my amazing friend @traceylt1963
Whew! What a journey the week has been! I’ll start with the news that all of our practice issues are fixed and the truck is in tech line! I did not get a full-throttle lap because we had to fix a faulty steering component (little sketchy at 170mph), the sway bar arm was shifting 1/2” (more sketch), the RR tire was rubbing, the throttle was sticking (which you would thjnk not too big a problem here but it creates an issue with all the other issues). For our technical friends the solutions were: 1/2” aluminum spacer on the throttle body below air box, added a spacer to sway bar bushing, body guy hammered out RR. That and about a dozen little improvements for aero! Proud of the team for getting it all done this morning!!! #nascar
I jinxed us! My helmet bag got left in NC π€¦π»βοΈ and Josh Reaume came to the rescue and loaned me his equip. But we didn’t realize we would need an adapter for the radio to work so we lost valuable practice time finding one. The truck should be much better for the race. 1. We were hard on the splitter. 2. It was really loose and 3. Not being in the truck for a year takes a few extra laps to get acclimated again! We roll off P30 and are ready to go! (I mean it this time :) thank you Josh!!!
I started using Upneeq® (oxymetazoline hydrochloride ophthalmic solution), 0.1% to treat my acquired ptosis because I didn’t like how my eyelids looked. But after using the eyedrop, my eyes are open wider and I get the benefit of looking more awake. It’s become a key part of my morning routine! #UpliftYourRoutine #Upneeq

I’ve become addicted to these amazing breakfast tacos! When I saw these @missionfoodsus ZERO NET CARBS sun dried tomato mini (so cute!) tortillas I couldn’t resist. One egg makes two tacos. Instructions: mix one egg with a dash of pepper and celery salt; add a splash of milk; whisk. Cook over med heat with a small pat of butter in a non-stick pan. Do not overcook. Microwave two tortillas with shredded cheese 30 seconds. Add eggs. Top with this amazing @herdeztraditions Verde Street Taco sauce and a smooth red sauce (like Ortega (which is delish but if you’re in KC definitely go with hometown fave @spanish_gardens!!!) and a dollop of sour cream. Takes way less than 10 mins start to finish including clean up!
@christianroseracing and I had the difficult task of judging the cars in the car show… so many worthy choices!!! Ultimately we went with this 1976 “Smoky & The Bandit” Trans Am! Those closest to me know that my first car was a Trans Am so this was a pretty easy leader for me. But Christian also loved this car (as well as so many others) but we liked the nostalgia of the movie and history. Congrats to this winner! Great trophy @ranson_cvb !!!
Source: @christianroseracing We are getting close! It's TOMORROW!

I respect the heck out of this! My pilot from CLT to MCI on @americanair said - hmmm - windshield needs a wipin’. Call someone else? Nope - I got this. You’re never too high up to do the things you once did to get where you are. Never too good to sweep the floor. Wipe the windshield. ππΌππ»
My life has been a series of some pretty high highs and very low lows. I’ve taken this year to heal. Get healthy: mind, body, soul. Sometimes we need a reset. Yesterday I had the honor to give a speech via Zoom wearing this uniform I had no hope of squeezing into 6 months ago. I’m on my way back. It’s never too late. Keep on keepin on. #nevergiveup Next race announcement soon.
I told my friend, “Holly” π, that we will remember this as our summer of “UPTOWN”! We are equally yoked as entrepreneurs, strong women and encouragers of other women. I appreciate her (and all my strong women friends) more than they’ll ever know. YOU, bad@$$ Ladies in my life are among those who matter most!
I’m often asked about other race car drivers and if they’re nice or decent people. This is one of the kindest men I have ever encountered. I’m not going to pretend I know him well, but he has always been so gracious and kind. He once apologized for another drivers behavior toward me. When we encountered him at the game the other night he asked how I was. Then he circled back and kind of said something like “no really, you doing ok?” I sometimes fear the real men who once led this sport are fading away. I hope the next generation can uphold the decency that a lot of these great drivers exude.
PSA Alert: I used a filter to try not to gross you out too much. SKIN CANCER is no joke. If you have spots/scaly patches/bumps that come up out of nowhere please please get them checked out. RACE FANS AND THOSE OF US WHO SPEND DAYS AND DAYS IN THE SUN AT THE TRACK - please take heed. As a teenager I laid in tanning beds in vain. Today I pay the price BUT I am diligent about having them checked. Almost every scar you see on my body is an actual skin cancer removed. I’ve had melanoma, basal cell and squamous cell. More crop up every year or so. The appearance of most of them are reduced greatly by the awesome services @rmedspa provides for skin resurfacing and scar reduction. It’s a process. But it’s life saving! Shout out also to my dermatologists @epiphanydermatologyriverside in KC who take my skin seriously. ππΌππ»
Happy Mother’s Day!
If you have a great Mom something just changes in you when she’s gone. This is my 4th Mother’s Day since my Mom passed and I decided to do something to make her proud instead of sulk and feeling sad all day. Thanks to my friend @paulahugheskendrach - I signed up and completed my 1st 5K!!! Thanks to her and her great friends for their patience - especially with the emergency pit stop at the porta potty halfway! πππ
@cameo is helping make Mother’s Day special for the Mamas out there! Check it out to send a PERSONALIZED greeting from your Moms favorite athlete, public figure, actor etc SO many celebs on the platform and if your Mom is a #NASCAR fan, of course I’d be honored to send her a personalized greeting. Download the Cameo app or check out their website. ππΈπ
